FAQs
I've never had lash extensions. What should I expect?
Your first appointment is designed to be comfortable, relaxing, and thorough.
When you arrive
• Please be on time.
• You’ll complete a brief intake form (ages 16–18 require a parent/guardian signature).
• We’ll discuss your goals, natural lash health, and the style that best suits you.
During the application
• Initial sets take time — especially Volume sets, which involve creating 2D–5D+ handmade fans.
• You’ll be reclined in a comfortable position for the duration of the service.
• I create a calm, relaxing environment; many clients take a “lash nap.”
• Your eye area will be cleansed and prepped, and you’ll receive a complimentary gel pad treatment.
• Talking is discouraged because facial movement can disrupt the application and extend the appointment time.
• I take my time to ensure your lashes look their best — quality over speed.
After the application
• I’ll perform final checks and adjustments.
• You’ll get after‑care instructions, product recommendations, and we’ll schedule your fill.
Important appointment etiquette
• Dress comfortably.
• Silence your phone — you must keep your eyes closed the entire time.
• Please do not bring children; you won’t be able to attend to them.
• If you are 15+ minutes late, you may need to reschedule and the cancellation policy will apply.
What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?
To get the best results, arrive with:
• No mascara (ideally avoid it for 3 days prior).
• Clean lashes washed with a mild, oil‑free cleanser.
• No eye makeup — removing it takes time away from your lash application and may incur an extra charge.
• No lash curling beforehand.
• Contacts removed (or wear glasses).
• 2–3 hours set aside for your initial appointment.
Please be considerate of the schedule — heavy eye makeup removal adds time and affects clients booked after you.
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic, mink, or silk fibers applied to each of your natural lashes — never to the skin.
They are:
• Customizable in length, curl, color, and diameter
• Designed to look natural and enhance your eyes
• Applied with precision by a certified lash technician
Length vs. Volume
Think of them as opposite ends of a sliding scale:
• More volume = shorter lengths
• More length = less volume
We’ll choose the perfect balance during your consultation.
How long will my eyelash extensions last?
Extensions can last 6–8 weeks, shedding naturally with your lash cycle.
To maintain a full look:
• Schedule fills every 2–4 weeks
• Avoid mascara
• Avoid oily products
• Don’t tug, pull, or sleep on your lashes
• Brush them regularly to keep them looking “fabulash”
Proper after‑care is everything.
How much do they cost and how long is the appointment?
• Full sets: $175–$250 (2–3 hours)
• Maintenance fills: $35–$95 (varies by time since last fill and your natural lash cycle)
Do not remove your extensions yourself. Improper removal can damage your natural lashes.
What should I expect during my appointment?
• The room will be dim and relaxing.
• You’ll lie on a warm table or reclined chair with blankets available.
• Many clients fall asleep — enjoy your lash nap.
• You must keep your eyes closed and remain still until instructed otherwise.
Why do I need fills if extensions last 6–8 weeks?
Your natural lashes shed gradually. After 2–3 weeks, small gaps appear as new lashes grow in.
Fills keep your set looking full, balanced, and beautiful.

Is having eyelash extensions applied painful?
No — when applied properly, you shouldn’t feel them at all.
• No poking
• No heaviness
• No pain
Those with very sensitive eyes may experience brief watering or slight stinging at the end, but it resolves quickly.

What are 3D Russian Volume lashes?
Russian Volume lashes are a luxury, advanced technique where 2–5 ultra‑light extensions are hand‑crafted into a fan and applied to a single natural lash. When you have Mega Volume lashes applied I use even lighter lashes and even more!
Benefits
• Soft, fluffy, multi‑dimensional look
• Great for clients with sparse or fine natural lashes
• Often longer‑lasting due to the lightweight nature of the fans
• Fully customized — all fans are handmade during your appointment (no premade fans)
Important warning
Be cautious of stylists using flare or cluster lashes and calling them “volume.”
These are not true volume lashes and should never be applied with permanent adhesive.
Results can be damaging and unsafe.

Do lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
No — when applied correctly, lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes.
Each extension is attached to one single natural lash, allowing it to grow and shed naturally with your lash cycle. The adhesive used is formulated specifically for human lashes and dries soft and flexible, so your lashes stay comfortable, bouncy, and healthy.
If damage occurs, it’s typically due to:
• Improper after‑care
• Pulling, rubbing, or picking
• Seeing an untrained or poorly trained technician
• Low‑quality products or unsafe application methods
At Private Eyes, only professional‑grade products are used, and they are available exclusively to trained lash artists.

Do you fill lashes from another studio?
Yes — with a few important considerations.
You can book an Out‑of‑Network Fill, during which I’ll assess your current extensions to ensure they were applied safely and correctly. I look for:
• Proper adhesive usage
• Correct isolation
• Healthy lash lengths
• Overall lash health
This appointment also includes a brief consultation so we’re aligned on your desired look.
If your existing set isn’t healthy or safe, I may recommend a removal and a new full set.
Once you’ve transitioned fully to my work and are no longer seeing other lash technicians, you’ll be able to book under my regular fill schedule.
