A Head Spa includes, but is not limited to, scalp analysis, deep scalp massage, herbal oil treatments, cleansing and hydrating masks, scalp exfoliation, steam therapy, scalp rinses, and of course, an invigorating scalp shampoo and conditioning treatment.
These services will gently clean the scalp of any dirt, oils, product build-up, or aging skin cells. A head spa also increases blood flow to our hair follicles which encourages hair growth.

Why a Head Spa?
Your scalp shows your mental state, physical condition, lifestyle and so much more! Due to the nature of the human body, nutrients are carried to the skin (scalp) before hair. If the scalp environment is not prepared first, beautiful hair will not grow. A head spa is like a facial but for the scalp, after all, your skin doesn't stop at your hairline. It's a customized multi-step process that deeply cleanses, nourishes and treats the scalp. These services will gently clean the scalp of any dirt, oils, product build-up, or aging skin cells. A head spa also increases blood flow to our hair follicles which encourages hair growth (Sorry to those already balding or bald, I can't stop genetic hair loss but I can certainly provide a wonderful head spa treatment). This service is intended to focus on your skin, not hair. But, focusing on your skin can lead to healthier hair growth!
Anyone can benefit from a head spa experience! This treatment offers an opportunity to unwind, enjoy a soothing massage, and simply relax. If you happen to have a dry, itchy, or oily scalp, issues with dandruff, build-up from hair products, clogged follicles, irritated skin, thin hair, hair loss, or even if you are dealing with stress, you are especially encouraged to give it a try. It's a rejuvenating option for a variety of scalp and hair concerns.
The level and areas of massage vary depending on the service booked. The addition of steam, halo rinsing and other treatments also differs based on the service that you book. Not all services include all treatment options.

You also have access to our steam therapy, aromatherapy and halo rinse. When booking this service you will receive a form to complete so that we are able to create your customized treatment prior to your arrival and allow the full length of service for your experience.
For those looking for a truly relaxing and refreshing experience this is an absolute must!

You will have wet hair after your service. It is not recommended to apply heat after a scalp treatment. You are able to purchase a hair wrap for after your service, it is yours to keep.

Your Aesthetician will customize your treatment to target areas of concern including dark circles, puffiness and bags, fine lines and wrinkles as well as hydration. Also includes ice globes to relax the eye muscles, reduce puffiness, even our skin tone, refine pores as well as reducing fluid build up around the eyes.
FAQs and Other Helpful Info
Be prepared to remove your top, jewelry, shoes and socks depending on the service that you are booking.
If you have extensions, braids, weaves, wigs, or any other added in hair or accessories that may come loose with vigorous scrubbing or massaging of the head and scalp please make sure that you notify us. This will reduce the amount of massage that we are able to perform. It is also suggested to remove these items before receiving this type of service, proceed at your own risk. We are not responsible for damage to these styles.
Can children receive this treatment? Yes! If your child/children will allow us to preform our services he/she can definitely come in to get their service done as we don’t use any chemicals that will harm children. The parent may stay in the room during treatment.
We can only accommodate one guest at a time in our Suite for our Head Spa; as such, multiple appointments would have to be either back-to-back or at different times/dates.
Expecting mothers - We encourage you to ask your doctor for any limitations you might have.
Our specialist is experienced with all types of hair from thin & fragile, thick & coarse, wavy, curly, porous, to even bald! However, the hair itself is actually not a concern. At the end of the day, the Head Spa is a scalp treatment. As long as you have a scalp, we can perform a head spa or scalp treatment.
Colored or permed hair? All of our ingredients are safe for any kind of treated hair! However, if you had recently done any kind of chemical services within a week before your Head Spa appointment, there is a chance that the color/keratin may fade during our detoxing process. Therefore, we recommend customers to wait at least a week after any kind of hair treatment before receiving a Head Spa. It is also recommended to wait a week after the treatment to have this type of service performed.
Will my hair be wet when I leave? A blowout/style is not included with the Head Spa as I do not recommend applying heat to a freshly treated scalp. Your hair will be damp when you leave the Head Spa. You also may be leaving with a treatment on your scalp. If you would like a blow out or style this must be booked as an additional service (remember that some services send you out with a leave in treatment!) We have many other salon professionals in Glow Suites that you can book this service with, just be sure to plan it accordingly based on your scalp treatment length.

Is there anything I should bring to my spa treatment?
Nothing in particular, but we recommend that you bring a hairband or hair clip to put your hair together and, if necessary, your makeup items to fix up your makeup.
Do you offer at home products to maintain my scalp health?
Yes! I have a variety of shampoo and conditioners to choose from.
How do I prep for my appointment?
To prepare for your appointment, we recommend coming in comfortable clothing and with hair that has been detangled to the best of your ability. It is best to not wash your hair for 48 hours prior to your service. For the service, you will need to remove your top or change into our spa clothes so we can get to your neck and shoulders. We recommend wearing a top and pants rather than a romper or jumpsuit because they are harder to change.
Am I a good candidate for a head spa treatment?

Can you work on clients with braids and/or dreadlocks?
Due to the nature of our treatment and the tools used, it is best suited for hair that is all down and can be brushed through. If you have braids or dreadlocks, we recommend undoing them before your appointment to ensure the best and most enjoyable experience. If you insist on a Head Spa, just be aware that the amound of scalp we can reach is limited and we are not responsible for damage to your style. Glow Suites also has a variety of stylists, some of which specialize in natural hair and do offer scalp treatments for those styles.
Can I record myself while the service is going on?
Indeed, you can for a few minutes; however, we really do ask that you set your phone to quiet mode and don't talk since it is a really relaxing experience and you will be in water, and if conceivable, put it to the side so you can partake in the experience completely!
We suggest you arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled service time. Unfortunately, arriving late may limit your treatment time, as we must honor our schedule so the next guest will not be delayed. Should you arrive late and have your service shortened as a result, you will still be charged the full value.
Be aware that not all spa services are all-inclusive. For instance, you may be asked during a facial or body treatment if you’d like to include an enzyme peel or another “add-on.” Don’t be embarrassed to ask if something is included in the service price or if there is an additional charge.
